This year, ahead of the global observance, the Katlo Development Centre took action by hosting a community engagement event on Thursday, March 20th, at Hebron Clinic, right in the heart of the community.

Shining a Light on a Silent Killer
While advancements in medicine have made TB a treatable disease, it continues to claim millions of lives each year, particularly in developing regions where access to healthcare and awareness remains limited. Recognizing the urgent need to educate and empower local communities, Katlo joined forces with the North West Department of Social Development to bring the message home.

At Hebron Clinic, the team facilitated a powerful awareness drive encouraging regular TB screenings and early diagnosis. By promoting free and accessible screening services, Katlo hopes to inspire individuals to take charge of their health and curb the spread of TB before it can cause harm.

A Collaborative Effort for Change
The event also formed part of the ongoing Social Behavior Change (SBC) Programmes, through which Katlo and its partners like Reamogetswe NPO aim to address multiple health and social issues impacting South African communities. By incorporating TB education into the wider SBC framework, the initiative ensures that no health issue—no matter how stigmatized or overlooked—goes unaddressed.

Community members visiting the clinic on the day were not only screened but also educated about TB symptoms, treatment, and prevention.
