Investing in Community Leadership
Through the support of the North West Department of Social Development, the Rock Leadership Programme was designed to equip Community, Traditional, and Religious Leaders with practical skills and knowledge to address key social challenges. By bringing the training to Mmakau, Katlo aims to strengthen the role of leadership in shaping healthy, informed, and empowered communities.
Over the course of two days, participants engaged in insightful discussions, interactive learning sessions, and collaborative workshops—all focused on mobilizing leaders as champions of positive social behavior change.

Tackling Core Social Ills Head-On
The training tackled some of the most pressing issues facing our communities today, including:
- HIV/AIDS awareness and prevention
- Gender-Based Violence and Femicide (GBVF)
- Substance abuse education and intervention strategies
These topics were not only explored from a theoretical perspective but also through real-world, culturally contextualized approaches that recognize the vital influence of traditional leadership structures in rural and semi-urban communities.

Katlo’s mission with this program is clear: to empower leaders with tools they can take back to their communities, where they can lead by example and influence others through action, advocacy, and education.
A Vision for Long-Term Impact
This is more than just a training—it’s a meaningful investment in community transformation. By planting the seeds of knowledge and awareness among our leaders today, we pave the way for long-term change, one village and one household at a time.
Katlo Development Centre is optimistic about the positive ripple effects that will emerge from this engagement and looks forward to continued collaboration with the Bakgatla Ba Mmakau leadership and the broader Madibeng Service Point area.
True change begins when leaders rise. Together, we build communities that thrive.
